Connect to a Hermes server
Open Settings in the app and enter the server's IP address or hostname, HTTPS port, bearer password, and leaf-certificate SHA-256 fingerprint. Enter only the address in the first field; Hermes adds https:// and /v1/chat/completions.
Tap Save server, then tap the Hermes tunnel status to check the connection. Active means the server returned an HTTP response; Suspended means the configuration or network path needs attention.
Common connection errors
- TLS or certificate pin error: compare the app's saved SHA-256 fingerprint with the certificate currently presented by the server. A renewed certificate requires a new fingerprint in Settings.
- HTTP 401: the Password must exactly match the server's
API_SERVER_KEY. Do not include the wordBearer. - Timeout or Suspended: confirm Hermes is running, the HTTPS port is open, router forwarding or VPN access is working, and the phone can reach the address.
- HTTP 502: the HTTPS proxy is reachable but cannot contact the private Hermes API listener.
Microphone, photos, and files
Enable microphone permission in iOS Settings to dictate. Photos and files are attached only after you select them. If a feature is unavailable, review the Hermes permissions under the iPhone Settings app.
Clearing data
Clear server removes the saved server address, port, password, and certificate fingerprint after confirmation. Clear local history removes conversation history saved by this app on the phone. It does not erase information retained by the user's Hermes server.
Privacy
